1. Initial Watering
Water Immediately: After planting, water the tree thoroughly to help the roots settle into the soil and eliminate air pockets.
If you do not intend to plant your tree in the ground immediately, water daily.
2. Watering Schedule
First Month: Water 2-3 times per week, more often in extended dry weather periods ensuring that the root zone stays moist but not soggy.
Second Month Onward: Water once a week, increasing the amount in dry seasons.
3. Check for Overwatering
Allow the top 1-2 inches of soil to dry out between waterings.
Check if the soil is moist just below the surface to decide whether the tree needs watering.
4. Adjusting Watering for Established Trees
Once established (usually after 6 months to a year), water only when necessary during dry periods, especially during the growing season.
