Why Can't Some Fruits Be Shipped to California?

California has strict agricultural regulations to protect its crops from potential pests, like the notorious Caribbean Fruit Fly. Because of this, there are certain fruits that we cannot ship to the Golden State. Unfortunately, some of our delicious tropical favorites are on their "restricted list."

What Fruits Are Restricted in California?

If you're living in sunny California, here’s the list of fruits that we cannot ship to you:

  • Pink Guava

  • White Guava

  • Sugar Apple (Anon)

  • June Plum

  • Starfruit (Carambola)

  • Pomelo

  • Sugarcane

  • Kumquat

  • Blood Oranges

  • Mandarins

  • Green Coconut

  • Florida Mango

  • Spanish Plum

  • Longan

  • Lychee

  • Papaya

  • Mamey

If any of these fruits are accidentally included in your order, don’t worry! We’ll cancel it and issue a store credit, which can be used toward any other available fruits or products in our shop.

For custom fruit boxes, if you select any of the restricted fruits, we’ll happily swap them for another variety or provide a higher quantity of your other selections.

We appreciate your understanding! Protecting California’s crops is no small task, and we wouldn’t want to upset the fruit police! 🍊🌱

Notes:

Restricted fruits require certificates from certain areas, or entry may be denied due to pest concerns.
